Issue / Question:
If I use lower than the recommended Octane of 93 for example 89% would that cause any engine problems?
Unless you’re racing, pulling or hauling heavy loads, 87 octane is fine. But since lower octane fuel evaporates faster then higher octane fuels, carbon is more common to develop on intake valves, combustion chambers, and tops of pistons. For this reason, we recommend adding the Amsoil PI fuel additive in at least every Amsoil oil change to clean any left over carbon. Follow this recommendation and enjoy the savings.
