Issue / Question:
The car seems to have a mind of its own as to when it will start. At first, the problem was a minor annoyance. When it didn’t start, it would almost always start after waiting 5 or 10 minutes. Now, it may or may not start on any given day. It’s my son’s car, he’s in school 9 hours away. He has had it to 2 different places and they didn’t find the problem. He has it narrowed down to the passlock system (passlock1-the anti-theft device) but the dealer he called said they could not bypass it (or maybe would not?), but would replace the lock cylinder for $400. To me, that doesn’t even sound like it addresses the problem, but what do I know? Since a 14 year-old Buick would not have a real strong chance to be stolen, disabling it seems like the best option, but I have no clue. I’m hoping you do. Thanks.

If it’s cranking over but does not start, it’s not a pass key problem. If it is not cranking over and it will after sitting, it most likely is a pass key problem.
