Car Information:
BMW/318i
Year: 1997
Engine Size: 1.9L
Trans: Automatic

Issue / Question:
The car overheated. I changed the thermostat, water pump, and the radiator as well. It still overheats. The fan is working fine. What do you think causes the overheating?

Answer:
We need to do a block test to see if compression gases are entering the cooling system through the head gasket or cylinder head. If compression gases are entering the cooling system an air pocket will form and get trapped at the water pump and the water pump cannot pump air. Therefore, the engine just keeps getting hotter.
