Issue/Question:
Here’s what I’ve noticed in regards my trucks elusive engine squealing problem;

  • The “belt squealing” noise goes away when the oil dipstick or the oil filler cap are removed – I guess this relieves the back pressure
  • It sometimes makes a high pitched “balloon deflating” sound a few seconds after the engine has been turned off
  • The truck has lost about a ¼ qt of oil since the last oil change – less than 3000 miles since it’s been changed!
  • I’ve already replaced the PCV valve twice since ownership
  • The sound seems to be coming from the bottom exhaust / transmission rear area of the engine
  • The water pump, serpentine belt, belt tensioner and the idler pulley were all recently replaced at at the dealership in an attempt to troubleshoot the issue. But the problem persists. . .

    Answer:
    The crank case isn’t venting I would like to look at this.
