Car Information:
Ford/Explorer
Year: 2007
Engine Size: V8
Trans: Automatic

Issue / Question:
I went to start the car and it’s completely dead. There is no dome light. I put a battery meter on it and it the results were bad. I then put battery charger on it, and the charger needle went spastic. I’m thinking there might be a dead short in the battery. I put my RV battery in and it works fine. Could a two and a half year old battery act like that? Everything in this vehicle is fused. If there were a short somewhere in the system, it wouldn’t affect the battery like this.

Answer:
A battery can leave you high and dry and never blow a fuse because they short out internally. Replace the battery (have the old one pro rated) and you should be fine.
