Issue / Question:
Does a leaking rack and pinion have to replaced when it is leaking a little? (about a few ounces a year) Don’t drive it much but my son has no complaints. How can you tell when it it time? Ball joints look okay; the rubber seal cracked but I keep lube every once in a while. Thank you. Amsoil is the best.

Answer:
If the rack isn’t loose, it has a lot of play and it’s seeping a little I wouldn’t worry to much. If it starts to get worse and your son will explain he is having to add power steering fluid, then it’s time to replace.
