Issue/Question: Love your show. A while back I heard you mention an Amsoil product that improved mileage and lubricated the fuel system and I cant remember which one it was. I think you said it’s ok to use it every other tank. (Maybe the 50:1)? Thanks for all the great advise!
Answer:
Try the 100 to 1 Amsoil synthetic out board oil use 8 ounces with a full tank of fuel.

Issue/Question:
My car has 43000 miles. The car was choking, then the engine gave a harsh diesel sound, no warning lights came on. Since last synthetic oil change I have 13000 miles on it, took it to cadillac dealership and they said I only have one quart left out of 5 in the engine and that I have damaged the gasket, and other major parts. They insist it is because i did not have an oil change at 6000 miles and that there was no issue or leak in the engine. is that true could there be another problem with the engine?
Answer:
I suggest you let us look at it, if it was low on oil the low oil light should have came on to warn you before a catastrophic failure! GM is trying to divert warranty claims back to the customers so be careful. Welcome to Government Motors.

Issue/Question: I just bought this car and was informed that I have synthetic oil in the car. I am not sure what brand is in the car, but was told to use Amsoil. If I decide to go with Amsoil, will it affect the engine when mixed with the oil in the engine now? Also, how long between oil changes? Why use Amsoil than some other synthetic oil. I hope to hear back from you soon. Thank you again.
Answer:
I recommend you go to amsoil.com and do some research on it for yourself, Amsoil was the first synthetic oil manufactured for internal combustion engines in the US. It uses twice the amount of POA bases in their oils compared to any other PAO oil. Note: Mobil is a PAO, Castrol, Valvoline, Pennsoil, and the rest are all hydrocracked petroleum oils with synthetic written on the bottles! They are not a real synthetic oil. Good luck.

Issue / Question:
I just bought a new truck a few months ago. It has already had its first Amsoil oil change. Currently, it has 3500 miles, but I would like to go ahead and get the transmission taken care of. I am wondering if it makes sense to do an Amsoil transmission flush now to prevent wear and tear on the transmission?
Answer:
A drain and fill should be all it needs.

Issue / Question:
I just bought a new Tacoma a couple months ago. I’m approaching the 5000 mile mark and wanted to know if that is a sufficient break in period before I start using Amsoil oil? Also, which Amsoil would you recommend? I’ve also heard you talk about the detrimental effects of ethanol in gas, but can’t remember which Amsoil product you suggest to combat those effects, and how much to use and how often? I’d also like to switch whatever other fluids I can to Amsoil products. What other fluids are there on this vehicle that I should switch and when? Lastly, I presume it’s never to early to come in and get the Ice-32 treatment for the AC system?
Answer:
5000 miles is fine for brake in. For 0-W-30, change it every 10,000 mile.
ICE -32 can be installed anytime!
We usually recommend switching your other fluids over to Amsoil at 36,000

Lexus IS F

Issue / Question:
I’ve got about 5k miles on my IS F, just took it into the dealer for my “free” first oil change this week and, as often happens, they overfilled the crank case. (seems to be a trend with Lexus dealers which is why I like to change my own oil)
I am more than anxious to get the new car on the Amsoil diet but continue to get conflicting information on when it’s good to do this. Some say now, some say wait until the motor clocks about 7k to 10k miles. What do you guys think? I am ready to do it now but I switched to syn oil too soon on my old A4 and it wound up using a lot of oil which the service adviser blamed on the premature switch to Amsoil.
Answer:
5,000 miles is plenty. If it’s not using oil now, it won’t when you switch over to Amsoil, I recommend 0-W-30. Change it every 10 to 12 K or in accordance with the oil monitoring system.

Issue / Question:
Do you recommend synthetic oil? What about adding a synthetic oil to gas? How much?
Answer:
Yes Amsoil 0-W-30 for the engine change it once a year or every 10,000 mile.
Many of our customers use the Amsoil 100 to 1 Synthetic outboard oil as a fuel additive! They periodically use 1 ounce to each 5 gallon. It adds upper end lubrication and helps prevent phase separation of ethanol fuels, their pay back is usually another 1 to 1 1/2 more miles to the gallon.

Issue / Question:
You guys fixed a bad oil leak back in Feb. and $1300 later! but it was well worth it!
3 days ago while sitting in park idling, the check engine light came on and stayed on even after turning off and restarting. CODE 154. I erased the code and drove all day Saturday and had no problems. Drove again Sunday and at one point sat and idled for 5 min and light came back on and stays on. Same code. Seems to run fine and code says Oxygen sensor insufficient activity (upstream right bank ). Any clues ???
PS van has 160,000 miles on it
Answer:
If the engine seems to run OK I would recommend replacing the sensor first, these 6.0′s don’t usually have vacuum leak problems and if its not running rich (black smoke) the code usually indicates the O/2 is worn out and the computer is not receiving the sensor data quick enough. Replace the sensor and clear the code and lets see what happens!

Issue / Question:
Good Afternoon,
I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata-4 Cyl with 28,750 miles average driving a day is 36 miles. I do use the Amsoil in the gas per Magic Mechanic recommendation and my father who listen to you faithful on Saturday!
He wanted me to check with you on recommendation of when the crank shaft needs done if I understood him right should we also be using that in the car I use synthetic oil for my oil changes now so he was wanting me to check on this also.
I have been using the same auto shop for over 30 years now “Top Auto” and they are the ones who started me on the syn oil so I need to know when it comes time for major changes like this and others what you would recommend also.
Answer:
Listen when it comes to Mechanics and auto advice its varies greatly.
I only use Amsoil lubrication products in my customers vehicles because I want that vehicle to last through out all their warranties and as the vehicle ages I might have the opportunity to get to do some small repairs and general service work. If they buy new cars every 3 or 4 years the most I can hope for is oil services and an occasional brake job and maybe some tires. This madness of mine seems to benefit my shop and my customers pocket book. I have a busy shop and my customers don’t have car payments unless they so choose, not because they have to! I recommend Amsoil synthetics for many reasons
1. their the first to manufacture a pure PAO based synthetic lubricant in the US (1972)
2. I have seen the results of using Amsoil in thousands and thousands of vehicles they just don’t wear out, and repairs are all small things never engines or transmissions
3. My madness and belief in Amsoil products are backed by real science and laboratory testing deeming it the best internal combustion engine lubricant in the world!
Amsoil even puts competitors wear data on the back of their bottle’s. And Amsoil has always warranted my customers engines and transmissions for lubrication failure for as long as they own the vehicle regardless how many miles are on it providing they use Amsoil and change it at recommended intervals. In your vehicle we would recommend the Signature Series Amsoil 0-W-30 in your Hyundai and change it every 10,000 mile or once a year. For more info go to www.amsoil.com. Also tell your father thanks for listening and I wish him a happy Fathers Day!
