Cylinder Miss

Car Information:
Nissan Sentra
Year: 1993
Engine Size: 1.6
Trans: Automatic

Issue/Question:
120k miles, sat for 1 year, I started driving again with no problems for 2 months of driving. Now has 1 cylinder miss. Replaced cap rotor wires, plugs but still had miss. I found the dead cylinder and while engine was running I unplugged and plugged the wire plug to that fuel injector, did not make a difference so I replaced the fuel injector. Ran great for 2 days now the same cylinder has a miss again. . All 4 cylinders have great compression. Fuel pump? Fuel regulator? Please help.

Answer:
Its not a fuel delivery problem! I would check my valve clearance while the engine is missing, could be getting carbon trapped between a valve. Also make sure the injector terminal on #1 injector is clean and not green and cruddy, intermittent contact because of corrosion on this vintage Nissan is common.

Codes for Nissan Sentra

Car Information:
Nissan Sentra
Year: 2001
Engine Size: 1.8L
Trans: Manual

Issue / Question:
Code p1130, low power low rpms, runs better at higher rpms, runs better on dry days, probably MAF sensor needs changed. If I remove IM and clean and change O-rings, clean tubes, will this help?
Also a squeak from under the valve cover, I resealed the VC gasket, should have changed the pcv.
I have replaced the upstream O2 sensors and cat conv and ignition coils& 2 belts, power steering pump & alternator.

Answer:
I don’t have a listing for a P 1130 code, Have a 1126 and a 1132
but nothing in between. I would need to scan the system and see what you have going on.

Nissan Sentra Check Engine Light

Car Information:
Nissan Sentra
Year: 2004
Engine Size: 1.8
Trans: Automatic

Issue / Question:
Car stalled when waiting for auto gate to open, would not start again. Pushed car back to house. Later that day I looked and the car started and ran find, but service engine soon light came on, Had code read it is P0335. Car is starting and running fine now, but engine light still on.

Answer:
I think this code was set because of excessive engine cranking not because of the engine stall. I would connect a fuel pressure gage to it along with a noid light for the ignition system and let it run at idle and see if it stalls, if it does at that time it can be pin pointed.

Nissan Sentra has bad Connections

Car Information:
Nissan Sentra
Year: 1999
Engine Size: 1.5
Trans: Automatic

Issue / Question:
Car sometimes will not start. Battery is strong but engine will not turn over. A clicking noise (starter) sounds. When engine does start it runs fine. Sometimes it runs in a very low gear (the car in idle does NOT creep forward when I let off of the brake pedal) I turn off engine then restart and The O/D off light flashes and then runs fine. Also sometimes when the car DOES NOT start all electrical goes dead. The radio and clock needs reset. When it runs (most of the time) the car runs great and smooth.

Answer:
There’s a bad connection, either at the battery, starter, or main engine relay. Its most likely causing the no start and the transmission to go into limp mode. We will need to check for a bad connection. There are several wires coming off the positive battery post, these terminals deteriorate and cause problems like this. Let us know if you need our help

Sentra Starter

Car Information:
Nissan Sentra
Year: 1998
Engine Size: SR20DE/1998cc
Trans: Manual

Issue / Question:
Car will not start. Prior to event, starting cycle sounded slow almost like low battery. But it is ok. Now when ignition key is turned, a arching sound is heard and it sounds like it is coming from a relay centrally mounted on the rear side of the engine near valve cover by firewall. It becomes warm to touch after 4 – 5 attempts to start. Do you think it is the starter or a or that relay assembly? Thank you

Answer:
Have you tried jump starting the car? Check the Positive terminal they usually start to fall apart on this car after a few years.
