Tires Locking Up

Car Information:
Nissan Altima GXE
Year: 1995
Engine Size: V6
Trans: Automatic

Issue/Question: The main problem is that the caliper locks up even after depressing the brake pedal. This was on the passenger side front tire. It continued even after bleeding the brake lines, master cylinder, and new pads. The cylinder had a bad proportion valve, which was fixed, but is still having a problem. Thanks.

Answer:
If it’s only one side locking up I would suspect a bad brake hose. They swell up internally and won’t allow the fluid to return to the master cylinder.

Altima has recall issue (again)

Car Information:
Nissan Altima
Year: 2002
Engine Size: 2.5
Trans: Automatic

Issue / Question:
This vehicle has been in to the dealer in 2004 to have sensors replaced on their safety recall (engine quitting while driving). Now it is doing it again. The dealer feels it has the same parts failure again. But he wants me to pay for it. Because it is a safety issue, and the same parts failure, aren’t they required to cover the parts and labor this time again? What are the rules? Thank you.

Answer:
Unless there’s a special policy adjustment by the manufacture the replacement parts have a 1 year 12,000 mile warranty.
