Sedona Shakes at 50mph

Car Information:
Kia Sedona
Year: 2005
Engine Size:
Trans: Automatic

Issue / Question:
I recently took my car to a local shop to have it serviced. I explained that I was having issues with the car shaking when accelerating. I got 4 brand new tires (which I needed), an alignment, brakes (which I needed), and belts. The problem has almost gone away. I no longer feel the shaking when driving in town, but when I get on the highway or take it over 50-55mph the shaking is intense. At cruising speeds it settles down, but as soon as I hit the gas, there it is. It is worse when I am accelerating over a small hill or overpass. Any thoughts would be great. I am planning a trip with my family to Ohio, and want this car safe, and in good working order before we leave.

Answer:
It may be worth your while to let us look at it, just call us before you come so if needed we can arrange a loaner for you to use, it sounds like there is an engine alignment problem or maybe a bad engine or transmission mount.

Kia Sedona sporadic starting

Car Information:
Kia Sedona
Year: 2003
Engine Size: 3.5L
Trans: Automatic

Issue / Question:
Car starts fine when cold. Once warm if I go to start it, it cranks and then locks, key off, key on cranks and then locks or cranks without starting. Does a fast crank with a hint of starting but never does. Let cool and it becomes hit and miss but usually starts. Once started drives fine, no misses, acceleration good, idle good. Disconnected output on fuel pump and appears good fuel flow when cranking (Done when cold) Any ideas????

Answer:
The crank and lock scenario may mean the engine is hydro locking from fuel or coolant! (Not a good thing) if your not losing coolant it may be a bad fuel injector allowing fuel to enter a cylinder while the engine is turned off. When you go to restart, it has to chase the excessive fuel out of the exhaust valve before the engine cranks over normally.

Let us know if you want to get it in for us to check. Continued use may bend a connecting rod if condition isn’t resolved.

A/C Not Cooling

Car Information:
Kia/Sedona
Year: 2004
Engine Size:
Trans: Automatic

Issue / Question:
The AC isn’t cooling like I feel that it should. It’s still cool but not really cold. The compressor was replaced about three years ago by the dealer and the freon level on the little gauge I have shows that it is a little bit low but still in the “green” area of the gauge. I was thinking of putting the ICE 32 in it that you advertise. Would it work ok in my car and how much would it cost?

Answer:
If the A/C pressures are ok, we generally get a 10 degree drop in temperatures by adding the ICE-32. In many, cases when a new compressor is installed, if the system was not flushed properly there may be too much oil in the system which restricts the capacity of the evaporator and reduces the amount of cool air you can expect. Adding ICE-32 will pull the oil out of the evaporator and keep it in the compressor where it belongs.

The price for ICE 32 is $74.95.
