Issue / Question:
My maintenance book says replace plugs and timing belt at 5yr or 60k.I have 40k and almost 5yrs. Do I go by years or mileage? Thanks for your opinion.
I have seen belts 5 years old look brand new,
on the other hand we have seen them just break into with 40,000 miles on them, no matter what my opinion would be fact is the timing belt is reinforced rubber that has exceeded its recommended life, it could be cracked badly. I’ll put it like this, if your Kia was a air plane would I fly it with that belt on the motor? NO!
