Jeep Cherokee In-Line Fuel Filter

Car Information:
Jeep Grand Cherokee
Year: 2004
Engine Size: V8
Trans: Automatic

Issue / Question:

Does the 2004 Grand Cherokee have an in-line fuel filter? My dealer says I should get mine changed but the owners manual says nothing of fuel filter service.

Answer:
It does have a fuel filter but its part of the fuel regulator on the top of the fuel tank and requires removing the fuel tank and a special tool to compress the new filter/regulator onto the nylon supply line.

It calls for 3.0 labor hours to remove the tank and install the filter ($253.50) and the filter/regulator is around $130.00 so this is not only labor extensive its a expensive fuel filter replacement. If you need our help let us know 407-629-2661

Transmission problem in Jeep Grand Cherokee

Car Information:
Jeep GC
Year: 2000
Engine Size:
Trans: Automatic

Issue / Question:
I get a slight bit of transmission slippage when I make left turns and accelerate. (Right turns are fine). I had the rear axle replaced about a year ago, and I think that’s the timeframe I first noticed the problem. Given this only happens on left turns, is the axle/tranny alignment the likely cause? Or do I just need the tranny serviced?

Answer:

Lets drop the transmission pan with intentions of servicing the transmission! I think theres a problem with the filter seal allowing the air to be sucked into the pump causing the slippage. Just make sure you tell my guys up front that Larry wants to look at this after the pans removed!
