Warning lights on Chevy Cavalier

Car Information:
Chevy Cavalier
Year: 1996
Engine Size: 2.2L
Trans: Automatic

Issue / Question:
About 1 month ago, I started having various warning lights on the dash come on & off at random. My neighbor said I should clean the connections on the fuse box under the hood. This seemed to clear it until yesterday when the problem returned. Mainly there are 4 lights that come on ABS, parking brake, air bag, & seat belt. I have also noticed that the little orange gear selector light seems to be very dim at times. Do you think this is the cluster itself going bad? Or something else? The car has almost 363K (orig. motor & tranny long gone) and runs pretty well otherwise & I want to keep her going. Thanks.

Answer:
The system needs to be scanned period. The safety restraint module could be the problem, but it needs scanned to see if its the module or something else is failing.

Cavalier Brake Pads

Car Information:
Chevy Cavalier
Year: 2003
Engine Size: 3.8L
Trans: Automatic

Issue / Question:
Brakes started squeaking when they get wet – more pressure needed on brake pedal to stop. Car has 50000 miles and brake pads have not been replaced. Brakes have never squeaked in the past when they got wet. Maybe Calipers? Pads?

Answer:
it sounds like a good front brake job with a system flush will take care of the problem, you may want to consider using a ceramic pad when doing the job they cost a little more but you get no squeaks, squeals or dirty wheels. $196.00 Brake system flush and fill with Amsoil synthetic fluid $96.00. Cooling Fan

Car Information:
Chevy Cavalier
Year: 2005
Engine Size: 4 cylinder
Trans: Automatic

Issue / Question:
Temp gauge goes all the way to 240 but car does not overheat, it stays cool. Changed radiator fan a while ago. Temp only goes up when outside temp goes up. Engine runs fine, fluid is cool, but temp gauge shoots up.

Answer:
We would need to check the coolant flow and the cooling fan operation,
even though the cooling fan has been replaced it has 2 relays 1 is for low speed and another for high. If its only running on the low speed it could cause this condition.
