Issue / Question:
This van is owned by our Greyhound Rescue and Adoption group. We use it to transport adoptive Greyhounds after they come off the track. About once a month we will take up to 13 Greyhounds up North to groups up there that have adopters, but no dogs. Needless to say with up to 13 good sized dogs in the van, their body temp averages 101, and only the factory AC, during the warmer months it can get very uncomfortable. Our thought was to get a small home AC unit and mount in in one of the rear door windows. The main issue is how to get power to it. Using a power inverter was suggested, but, impact on the alternator and changing system was felt to be too much of a risk. The other option was to mount a generator to the towing hitch. The AC unit is 115v 5amp, rated at 565watts. What do you think would be the best way to go?

I think the window unit and generator on the hitch is a great idea. They make a small Honda super quiet generator that would work perfect!
