Issue / Question:
Larry, I have a 1998 Explorer with a 5 Litre engine. It has 201,000 miles on it. I’ve used Amsoil in it since 67,000 miles. I also have it in Xmission and Differential and it runs great. However, I have this one problem that came up about 2 weeks ago. It runs rough when I first start it cold, but clears when I rev the engine up for a few seconds. Sometimes it will do the same thing when the engine is warm, but very seldom. What’s wrong?

Answer:
You would need to do a residual fuel pressure test overnight. I think it has either an injector hanging open and flooding a cylinder or there’s an intake gasket leaking a little coolant into an intake runner.
